THE BRONX, N.Y. – Police in the Bronx are asking for the public’s help to find a puppy thief who snatched a tiny dog from its cage.

It happened about 1:30 p.m. inside R and K Dogs Grooming at 888 East Tremont Ave., police said.

The man grabbed a black and brown tea cup Yorkie from a cage and walked out of the store without paying for it, police said. It was caught on camera and the surveillance video was released Tuesday.

The culprit is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, a dark-colored baseball cap, light jeans and tan work boots.

When he’s caught, he faces a charge of grand larceny, police said.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call NYPD’s anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
