BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets will introduce Kenny Atkinson, a former Atlanta Hawks assistant coach, as their 21st coach in team history on Monday.

Nearly a month after the Nets’ initial announcement and last week’s Hawks’ playoff exit, Atkinson will be formally introduced to media at their new HSS Training Center facility in Sunset Park.

Born in Huntington, New York, Atkinson brings a diverse professional basketball acumen to the franchise.

  • Atlanta Hawks assistant coach (2012-2016); member of Eastern Conference coaching staff during 2015 All-Star Game
  • New York Knicks assistant coach (2008-2012)
  • Houston Rockets director of player development (2007-2008)
  • Various coaching positions abroad
  • Played professionally for 14 years overseas (1990-2004)
  • Attended University of Richmond; earned All CAA First Team honors, CAA Rookie of the Year in 1987
  • Studied at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington
