Borough Park building fire sends thick, black smoke into sky

BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn — Firefighters are investigating what sparked a fire in a Brooklyn building Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out on the second floor of 1354 57th St., in Borough Park around 4 p.m. It quickly grew to two alarms, sending thick clouds of black smoke into the air.

Firefighters were able to place the fire under control within an hour.

No injuries were reported.

It's unknown at this time what caused the fire.
