NEW YORK – More than 750,000 New Yorkers with Time Warner Cable experienced outages Monday afternoon.
Time Warner Cable said on Twitter that customers are experiencing issues with their phone and some TV services because of “multiple fiber cuts.” They are “aware of issues concerning all services” to New York City customers.
“This afternoon, L3, a fiber service provider to companies such as Time Warner and Verizon, experienced an outage on its system,” said Department of Public Service CEO Audrey Zibelman in a statement Monday night.
Customers reported problems with TV, internet and phones. The company responded to some customers’ inquiries with a promise to provide a credit for the day’s service that was lost.
Zibelman said the DPS and Department of Homeland Security were directed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to investigate that the outages didn’t impact any 911 calls.
Service is being restored and DPS will continue to investigate what caused the outages.
