Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run drivers in Queens

SOUTH OZONE PARK, Queens – Police said a pedestrian was run over twice by hit-and-run drivers early Sunday.

The NYPD said they responded to 911 call of a man struck at 115th Avenue and 131st Street in South Ozone Park, Queens around 2:30 a.m.

Upon arrival,  they found a 43-year-old man laying on the ground with severe head and body injuries. He was pronounced dead by EMS at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that a man crossing the street was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the vicinity of 115th Avenue and 131st Street. Then the victim, now laying on the westbound lane of 115th Avenue, was run over by an unidentified black SUV traveling westbound at the intersection of 131st Street before leaving the scene.

Residents who spoke to PIX11 expressed their anger that no one got out of the car to help the victim.

Surveillance video shows cars stopping near the intersection and seeing the victim on the ground.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
