LOWER MANHATTAN — The children of the New York City Fire Department’s female firefighters used art to express their love for the brave work their mothers do everyday.

The FDNY posted several drawings from the children of the department’s 52 female firefighters on Instagram.

“My mom is a superhero,” wrote Jisella Jorsling, the daughter of Engine 79 firefighter Joann Jorsling.

Three women graduated from the FDNY academy in May. The total number of female firefighters is “more than in the history of the department,” Fire commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
