HUNTINGTON, N.Y. — A woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed into another vehicle, causing it to veer and strike an 89-year-old walking out of a McDonald’s in Huntington Monday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Daryl Richardson, 56, was driving her car on West Jericho Turnpike around 4:05 p.m. when she attempted to pull into a McDonald’s, according to police. She was making a left turn when her car crashed into a 2009 Chevrolet, causing that driver to veer off the road and pin 89-year-old Louis Anania to the front of the restaurant.

All three were taken to the hospital. Anania was treated for an open leg fracture and a broken clavicle, police said. The driver of the 2009 Chevrolet was released from the hospital after he was treated for minor injuries.

Richardson was treated for non-life threatening injuries. She was later arrested and charged with DWI.

Both vehicles were impounded and the investigation is ongoing.
