Girl with autism hospitalized after falling from Bronx apartment fire escape: NYPD

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Bronx – Police said a girl with autism was hospitalized after falling from a fourth floor apartment fire escape.

The NYPD said officers responded to a call at 2290 Andrews Ave. around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, they found the 7-year-old who fell and she was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said the child was able to get to the fire escape after an adult inside the home left the room.

The NYPD have deemed the incident an accident.

The adult who with the child will not face charges.
