SUNNYSIDE, Queens — Police are looking for a woman who punched a straphanger, then threw her phone out of the train when she tried to call police.
On Friday at 3 p.m., the suspect was arguing with a straphanger on a Queens-bound 7 train en-route to 46th Street station.
The suspect accused another passenger, a 48-year-old woman, of staring at her, then approached and punched her in the face, police said.
The suspect then grabbed the woman’s cell phone as she attempted to call 911, police said.
When the train car doors opened at the 46th Street Station, she threw the phone onto the platform, shattering the screen.
The victim suffered redness and swelling to her face but refused medical attention.
She got off the train to retrieve her phone and the suspect fled at 46th Street Station.
