NYPD rescues man in sinking kayak near Coney Island Beach

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn — Police jumped into action and rescued a man from a sinking kayak Sunday morning in Coney Island.

NYPD Aviation Unit spotted the 33-year-old man and his beige kayak about one mile from the shoreline in the vicinity of the Parachute Jump ride.

Two scuba divers are seen jumping into the water and pulling the victim onto Harbor Adam, an NYPD Harbor Unit vessel. Helicopters flew above to assist the rescue. The kayak was also retrieved.

Harbor Adam transported the victim, who was conscious and alert, to Kingsborough Community College.

The victim refused medical attention.
