Atlanta, GA (WGCL) — Atlanta police said Friday that a driver who hit three children, killing one of them, injected heroin right before the April 15 crash.

Police said the driver, Ryan Lisabeth, 28, was traveling on Joseph E. Boone at a high rate of speed when he struck a passing truck on the rear as he crossed over the center line.

Lisabeth drove onto the sidewalk where Timothy Hood, 12, Roland Ward, 11, and Isaiah Ward, 9, were standing and talking.

Isaiah died two days later. Roland has been released from the hospital.

Relatives said Hood is showing signs of improvement.

Lisabeth is a repeat drug offender and District Attorney Paul Howard said had he been given the right treatment for his heroin addiction this could’ve been prevented.
