1 dead, 7 firefighters injured in Brooklyn house fire

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, Brooklyn— One person is dead after a fire broke out at a home in Brooklyn.

The fire ripped through a 2-story home on Fenimore Street in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens on Monday around 6:15 p.m.

Patricia Thomas, 64, was found on the second floor of the residence, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries— five of the firefighters were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, and two of them were taken to Kings County Hospital.

A neighbor suffered from smoke inhalation and was also taken to Kings County Hospital.

Firefighters are still on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
