16-year-old stabbed in midtown following dispute with street vendors

MIDTOWN, Manhattan — A 16-year-old boy was injured Wednesday afternoon in a stabbing in midtown, police say.

According to police, the teen was stabbed once in the torso in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue and E. 31st Street around 4:15 p.m. The teen allegedly got into a fight with street vendors in the area before the attack.

The teen was taken to Bellevue Hospital. Police say he has non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not have a suspect at this time. It was not immediately clear if one of the street vendors stabbed the teen.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
