Woman fights off attempted rapist in the Bronx: NYPD

FORDHAM, The Bronx — Police are searching for a man they say attempted to rape a woman in the Bronx Monday morning.

According to police, the report was made around 2 a.m., in the vicinity of West Kingsbridge Road and Webb Avenue on the border of the Fordham section of the borough.

The victim, 47, told police she noticed she was being followed by the suspect. When she reached the corner of Webb Avenue and Eames Place, the suspect allegedly grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her pants down.

Once he grabbed her, the victim screamed and was able to fight off the suspect by punching him. He took off eastbound on Eames Place.

The victim did not go to the hospital following the incident.

Police have released surveillance video showing the suspect, who is described as being in his mid-twenties. He was last seen wearing a black Du-rag, black and red jacket, black pants and tri-colored sneakers.
