19-year-old charged with murder in Upper East Side stabbing

UPPER EAST SIDE — A 19-year-old has been charged in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man on the Upper East Side.

An NYPD spokesman said Gustavo Rodriguez, 19 was charged with murder, felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.  He was allegedly involved in an attack that happened about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday near Third Avenue and 94th Street, police said.

It was at that scene that officers found a 22-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his chest.

An argument had broken out between two men and ended when one of them produced a knife and stabbed the other, mortally wounding him. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased has been identified as Xavier Olivares of the Bronx.
