Man arrested after trying to steal vehicle, shooting owner in the leg: cops

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — A 44-year-old man is under arrest after allegedly trying to steal another man's vehicle and shooting him.

The incident happened in front of 400 2nd St., in Williamsburg just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Hector Bello, 44, of Brooklyn, broke into the vehicle and fired a bullet at the 28-year-old owner's left leg when he tried to stop him, according to the NYPD.

He was taken in stable condition to an area hospital.

Police later arrested Bello and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
