YONKERS, N.Y. — A house collapsed after fire engulfed three homes in Yonkers Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a 4-alarm fire at 53 Herriot St. around 2 p.m. The fire spread to the houses on both sides while the smoke and flames continued to burn.

The house that the fire began collapsed, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Travers. The house on 55 Herriot St. sustained heavy fire damage and the one on 51 had mostly water damage.

The residents who live in the houses were not injured, Travers said. Neighbors were also evacuated.

Some firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire.
