Massive fire partially collapses building in Keyport, NJ; 6 firefighters injured

KEYPORT, N.J. -- A massive fire in Keyport, New Jersey injured six firefighters and two others were hurt after being trapped when the building partially collapsed, Monmouth County officials confirmed.

Officials say the 4-alarm fire started around 3:34 p.m. at a commercial building on 43 W. Front St. The fire then spread to two additional buildings.

Two firefighters, who were inside at the time of the collapse, were rescued and rushed to Bayshore Medical Center where they were treated and released.

Four other firefighters were hurt and transported to Bayshore with minor injuries.

200 firefighters responded to the fire.

The cause of the blaze is not known at this time. Officials are investigating.
