THE BRONX — A Bronx woman celebrated her 100th birthday with her family, friends, and neighbors at the Eastwood Manor Saturday.

Sarah Pauline Turner, also known as “Mama Sarah,” was presented with a citation and a New York City Council Proclamation at her birthday party. Turner was born in 1916 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the seventh child out of 14, according to a press release.

The 100-year-old woman won a slew of awards and honors throughout the years. She has been a member of Burke Avenue Baptist Church for more than 50 years and continues to work with R.A.I.N. Eastchester Senior Center.

She has taken on many roles throughout the years, but loves being a mother to her two daughters, grandmother and great grandmother the most.
