WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn – Several people were hurt, including an 8-year-old child after a fire broke out inside a multi-story building Monday night.

The blaze started on the first floor of 232 Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg around 10:50 p.m. It quickly grew to a 2-alarm fire before it was placed under control by firefighters nearly an hour later.

The victims – six adults and one child – were taken to area hospitals, FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
