WEST BABYLON, N.Y. -- One man is dead and another is injured after a double stabbing Friday in Suffolk County on Long Island.

Authorities say two vehicles were traveling the same direction on Straight Path in West Babylon just before 9:30 a.m. when a fight ensued between the occupants of both vehicles.

In the area of 1079 Straight Path, police say several people got out of the two vehicles and two men were stabbed.

The bloodied men stumbled into a nearby home where homeowners called 911.

The men were rushed to the hospital where Nyquan Banister, 22, of North Babylon, was pronounced dead, and the 21-year-old North Babylon man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say they do not know what led to the dispute and stabbing.

Police are searching for the second vehicle that fled the area.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white SUV with out-of-state license plates. The investigation is continuing.

Homicide Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call 631-852-6394 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
