Three local high school students are being called heroes after their quick thinking skills saved a bus load of their classmates on their way to school.

The bus went out of control when the bus driver had a medical emergency on one of the busiest highways in central New Jersey. The teens took charge and steered it to safety.

That bus came to a stop on Route 22 in Bridgewater. Emergency teams responded quickly to make sure everyone was okay, and thanks to those students, everyone was.

Kala Wright, a freshman, Angelo Mel-Tos, 18 and Gavin Costello, 15, were honored by the North Plainfield Mayor and elected officials.
