HOUSTON, Texas — A man who made national news last month when he was caught having sex on the Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip was killed over the weekend in a carjacking, according to KTRK-TV in Houston.
Phillip Panzica, 27, was leaving a strip club in Houston, Texas, about 5:15 a.m. Saturday when the fatal string of events unfolded.
Panzica and his fiancee climbed into a black Kia with the would-be shooters sitting in the backseat, KTRK reports. They were leaving a club where Panzica’s fiancee works as a dancer, according to the station.
The victim’s fiancee said she recalls hearing one of the attackers tell her fiance, “You need to come clean,” then he pointed a handgun at Panzica before firing several rounds, the station reports.
Police told KTRK the two men in the backseat ordered Panzica’s fiancee out of the car, dragged the victim’s lifeless body into the road and drove off in the Kia.
Bryant Watts and Arron Jones have been arrested in connection with the fatal carjacking, KTRK reports. They each face a capital murder charge. Police told KTRK the men were found with a “large amount” of cash in their possession.
Panzica made national news in February when he was caught having sex with a Long Island woman on The High Roller Observation Wheel in Las Vegas. At the time, he’d said he met the woman after getting into an argument with his then-girlfriend.
