An Oklahoma baby was fighting for his life seven months ago after a common cold turned into a blood infection, but thanks to blood donors, he was able to make almost a full recovery.
Brittany and Austin Spitler took their son, Dallin, to the emergency room when he began gasping for air.
"He went from being: 'Huh, is something wrong?' to, immediately, he was gasping for air, and he just got really cold and I knew, from that moment, we needed to get him to the hospital," Brittany Spitler told KFOR.
For 10 days, Dallin had a pump connected to his artery that would circulate his blood throughout his body.
"It would pull all of the blood out of his body, filter it, and then put it back in and it did that for 10 days," Brittany said.
Luckily, he has made an almost full recovery, but it wasn't without the help of 36 blood donors.
And blood donors are constantly needed.AlertMe
