Man arrested in connection with January murder of Far Rockaway woman

FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens — A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Far Rockaway on Jan. 27.

Tyquan Long, 29, was taken into custody Thursday.

Police responded to a reports of shots fired at an apartment building located at 333 Beach 32nd St. just before 1 p.m. that January afternoon.

Police found Joann Gravette, 36, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. EMS says she was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim’s mother says her daughter was engaged to the suspect for the last five years.

The other victim, Barbara Romano, who was waiting for a delivery in the lobby, was shot in the hand. She was taken to St. Johns Episcopal University Hospital in stable condition.
