Spice up your life with these ‘Fire in the Hole’ recipes

TV personality Julian Phillips spices things up a bit with PIX11 Morning News Anchor Sukanya Krishnan.  He has teamed up the new spice company Fire in the Hole to create some flavorful dished packing some serious heat.  Check out his recipes:

Spicy" Shrimp & "North/South" Chicken Black Bean Salsa Wraps

Black Bean Salsa Mix

15.5 oz. Can black beans (low sodium beans optional)

8.75 oz. Can whole kernel corn. Sweet corn preferred  (no salt optional)

2 medium tomatoes (chopped)

1 small onion (chopped)

1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro

1 tablespoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon sea salt

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Lime jume

The above measurements of ingredients can be altered to taste!

Medium sized flour, whole wheat, sun dried tomato or spinach wraps

1/2 lb chopped peeled and deveined jumbo shrimp

1/2 lb thinly sliced chicken breasts cut into squares

Fire in the Hole Cajun Seasoning  (or other cajun or pepper seasoning)

Fire in the Hole Taste of Two Cities all-purpose seasoning or general all purpose seasoning



Combine all ingredients in a bowl, except shrimp, chicken and the FITH Seasonings or alternatives and mix thoroughly. Set aside.

Season shrimp WITH FITH Cajun seasoning or alternative to taste, and place in a hot skillet or pan coated thinly with extra virgin olive oil.

The same process for the chicken

Shrimp and chicken cook quickly. Once done, combine with the black bean salsa mix. Serve immediately in wraps--or place in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes  if you prefer a cool filling.

NOTE:   You have the option of making the wraps with either shrimp or chicken. The two don't have to be combined. A pure vegetarian wrap is also great for the palate!!!!

Makes about 4 wraps

Tomato Juice

Tequila (silver not dark)


Worcestershire sauce

A-1 steak sauce

Fire in the Hole  Cajun Seasoning  (or tobasco sauce)

Fresh cilantro

Whole lime (or lime juice from concentrate)



Fill pint glass with ice

Pour in 2 1/2 oz. of tequila

Add tomato juice

2 heaping teaspoons of horseradish

A little worcestshire sauce for color

Just a dab of A-1 steak sauce! (maybe two!

Add a tablespoon of FITH Cajun Seasoning  (or tobasco sauce)

Pour ingredients into a martini mixer

DO NOT SHAKE! Just gently tumble.

Line rim of pint glass with lime juice and roll FITH Cajun Seasoning around the rim

Pour mixture into glass and add fresh cilantro for garnish
