BENSONHURST, Brooklyn— A man in his 70's riding a motorized scooter was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday afternoon.

The FDNY received a call at 3:19 p.m. Wednesday that a person on a scooter was struck by a vehicle at 85th Street and 25th Avenue in Bensonhurst.

High School Freshman Jennifer Fahmy was on her way home and witnessed the incident. Fahmy told PIX11 she saw a white Kia sideswipe the scooter and the victim fall to the ground. “I was devastated, I was shocked, I didn't know if he was dead or alive.”

“I saw it and it was pretty bad,” Veronica Almarz said. “He was bleeding from his face, his head, his knees, and he was laying in the dirt.”

Police are looking for a white vehicle that fled scene.

The victim is being treated at Lutheran Hospital and is in serious condition.
