CENTRAL PARK — A man was killed Monday morning when he was hit by a van in Central Park, officials said.

It was about 6:40 a.m. when officers were called to 74th Street and East Drive on a report of an unconscious male, NYPD said.

A police spokesperson said officers assigned to Central Park found the 56-year-old victim pinned beneath the front driver’s side tire, with the van, belonging to a private construction company, set in reverse. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aerial video of the scene showed a van with what appeared to be a body covered in a white sheet lying directly in front of the vehicle.

Officials said the deceased, whose name has not been released, was employed by a construction company contracted to do work in the park.
