MORRIS COUNTRY, N.J. – The U.S. Geological Survey reports a minor earthquake happened in central New Jersey Thursday evening.

The seismic event, which registered a 1.6 on the Richter magnitude scale, happened around 9 p.m. approximately one kilometer northwest from Bloomingdale in Morris County.

Captain Jeffrey Paul, Morris County Office of Emergency Management, also confirmed the event, saying there was no reports of damage at this time.
