DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. – A Waffle House employee is in critical condition and a former waitress faces serious charges after allegedly spiking his drink with a large dose of meth.
Surveillance footage from the Waffle House along Highway 53 shows Sonserea Evans allegedly bringing 37-year-old Brian Mikeals’ drink into the bathroom while he was outside, and emerging minutes later, according to the WSB-TV.
Evans was not cooperating with investigators, officials said. It took them six weeks to gather enough evidence to arrest her.
Paramedics and police rushed to the Waffle House Dec. 23 around midnight and rushed Mikeals to the hospital.
“It’s crazy to think that another human being would do this to another human being,” Dawson County Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Wooten said. “It’s just something in my 18 years I’ve never experienced.”
Mikeals fell into a comatose state at the hospital, where he was “clinging to life” and eating through a feeding tube, Wooten said.
Police say they have evidence from surveillance cameras and several witnesses but wouldn’t specify what the motive might have been.
A Waffle House spokesman issued the following statement about the incident:
“We are very concerned over this matter and are working with the local authorities to assist in their investigation. Our main focus now is on our Associate who was injured and his family as they go through this trying time.”
Evans faces felony aggravated battery and drug charges.AlertMe
