WALNUT GROVE, Calif. — A bride who should be celebrating her first days of marriage is instead frantically searching for her father who went missing at her wedding reception.

Durga Moparti got married Saturday at the historic Grand Island Mansion in Walnut  Grove, Calif., reports PIX11’s sister station KTXL.

Her father, Prasad Moparti, 55, flew over from India one month ago for the wedding, KTXL reports. Relatives saw him wandering off during the reception.

“I think he just went for a casual walk because one of my family members actually saw him walking down the road,” Moparti said.

While family told KTXL he had recently been depressed, the bride believed her father was happy and enjoying the ceremony.

“I believe that he was just walking and he fell unconscious, and he just tripped or something like that, but I’m really not sure what happened, and this seems like a total mystery,” Moparti said.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office says because he walked away from the reception, Moparti is a “voluntarily” missing person, according to KTXL.

Wedding guests spent the day looking for the bride’s missing father. The sheriff’s office was also exploring the Sacramento River with the help of a cadaver dog, KTXL reports.

For the Moparti family, all plans are on hold until they find out what happened.

“Our only focus is to get our father back, and our efforts will continue until we get our father back,” Moparti told KTXL.
