HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, New Jersey— A large blaze at a warehouse in Somerset County sent clouds of black smoke billowing into the air.

The warehouse is located along U.S. 206 in Hillsborough Township not far from a residential area.

Video captured on Periscope shows firefighters using multiple truck ladders to try to extinguish the blaze, which consumed much of the structure near the loading docks.

After the video was taken, the fire exploded, tearing through the rest of the warehouse and turning the building into a bed of coals.

Route 206 has been closed because of heavy, black smoke pouring from the fire site.

Fire officials were not able to determine the cause of the blaze.

It's not known if there were any injuries.
