Girl, 16, killed in hit-and-run in Rosedale, Queens

ROSEDALE, Queens – Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a teenager in Queens just after midnight Wednesday.

NYPD says officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at Francis Lewis Boulevard and Sunrise Highway at approximately 12:17 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the 16-year-old victim, unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway.

EMS took the girl to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Further investigation revealed a dark-colored van was traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway, while the girl who was trying to cross Sunrise Highway in the south east crosswalk was struck by the vehicle, who then fled the scene, police say.
