SYKESVILLE, Md. — A 5-year-old Maryland girl was killed after a car struck her Monday morning while she was sledding.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was sledding down a driveway in Sykesville when a Kia Sorento hit her.
She was rushed to Carroll Hospital Center where she was pronounced dead.
A spokesperson for the police department said speed did not seem to be a factor in the crash. He also added that the girl was with other children at the time of the accident.
Police say they are not releasing the identities of the driver or child killed.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
