AMITYVILLE, N.Y. — A man was arrested after he admitted to stealing a pitbull puppy Friday night, officials said.

Donovan Davis, 23, was charged with petit larceny.

Police went to Davis’ house on Overland Avenue around 9 p.m. because of a 911 call about a disturbance. When they arrived, they noticed something moving in a bag.

He then pulled out a pitbull puppy out of the bag and admitted to stealing the puppy from a woman. Davis said he met up with the woman earlier that day about purchasing the puppy.

The puppy was returned to the owner.
