BROOKLYN — A man allegedly robbed a woman in a listing on Craigslist that claimed a cottage was for rent.

James Cadet, 33, posted a Craigslist ad for a cottage to rent, police said. A 28-year-old woman responded to the ad last April to rent the place.

The woman met up with Cadet, who represented himself as a real estate agent, and gave him three money orders, police said. The money orders totaled to over $2,000.

When the victim tried to move in to the cottage in May, she couldn’t get in. The real estate agency then said Cadet wasn’t an employee there.

Police conducted an investigation and found Cadet in Brooklyn.

He was arrested on Saturday and charged with grand larceny and criminal impersonation.
