BUSHWICK, Brooklyn — Disturbing surveillance video shows a pair of thieves attack a pedestrian from behind on the sidewalk in Brooklyn, wrestle the purse off her shoulder then knock her to the ground, police said Tuesday.

It happened shortly after 7 p.m. Dec. 27 in front of 289 Bleecker St., police said.

Two men ran up behind a 45-year-old woman and threw her to the ground then snatched her purse and ran away, heading toward Irvine Avenue and Bleecker Street, police said. They made off with $600 in cash.

The woman was not seriously hurt in the attack. Police on Tuesday released video of the violent robbery with a plea for help from the public to find the assailants.

Both attackers are described as white or Hispanic males in their mid-20s who stand about 5 feet 5 inches tall, police said.

One was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants and black sneakers; the other was wearing a colored sweatshirt with a logo on the front, a baseball cap, black sweatpants and white sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call NYPD’s anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
