Child found dead, 5 others injured in Connecticut condo fire

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Fire officials in Bridgeport say a young child has died in a condo fire that also injured five other people.

Bridgeport fire officials responded to a call of a fire at a condo complex on Frenchtown Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Fire Chief Brian Rooney told the Connecticut Post that a 3-year-old girl died in the blaze that may have begun in the kitchen of the home and spread to the second floor.

The injured residents were taken to Bridgeport Hospital. A spokesman said they were suffering from burns and smoke inhalation but were expected to recover.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
