NY hospital welcomes two babies in first 30 seconds of 2016

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. — A hospital in New York welcomed two bouncing babies within the first 30 seconds of the new year.

Daniela Malakov, of Glen Oaks, Queens, gave birth exactly at midnight to her still-unnamed son. He clocked in at 7 pounds 4 ounces, his parents said from their room at Long Island Jewish Medical Center Katz Women's Hospital.

Just 30 seconds later, baby Austin Sparacio came into the world.

Miles away at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, Stephanie Diaz gave birth to her second child, Zayden Noel. Weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce, Zayden was born exactly at midnight, the hospital said.
