PARKCHESTER, The Bronx— The beloved Bronx bakery, Zaro's is closing its doors after 55 years at the same location.

The bakery's owner Michael Zaro says they are being forced to close because of high rent.

Zaro says the landlord, Olshan Properties, told them six weeks ago that they would not be renewing the bakery's lease.

Zaro said they had no chance to bid on the space to keep the business at its iconic location, News12 reported.

The vice president of Olshan Properties said the bakery could not meet the terms of renewal, but they are working to find another retail location in Parkchester.

Zaro's Bakery will be closing Monday, Dec. 28.
