Mother, 2 daughters injured after being struck by car in Hicksville

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — A mother and her two young daughters were injured after a car crashed into them in Hicksville Thursday evening.

The crash happened at the intersection of Newbridge Road and W. Old Country Road just before 10 p.m.

Nassau County Police say a 2003 Honda Accord, operated by a male driver, 39, was traveling south on Newbridge Road/Old Country Road when he struck a mother, 42, and her two daughters ages 4 and 11, who were crossing from east to west.

Cops say all three victims sustained multiple internal injuries to a local hospital.

The mother and the 4-year-old are listed in critical condition. The 11-year-old is in critical but stable condition. No other injuries were reported

Old Country Road has reopened after being temporarily closed in both directions at Newbridge Road.

Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time. The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety tests.
