BUSHWICK, Brooklyn — Bushwick's newest residents have laid out the welcome mat for burglars—leaving their doors and windows open giving thieves an opportunity to steal, cops said.

There were 441 burglaries in Bushwick this year, NYPD statistics show.

Last week a woman told detectives, she went to school at 8 p.m., and when she came back to her Lawson Ave apartment three hours later, her iPad and bicycle were stolen.

Bushwick has long been a hotspot for burglars, and residents aren't locking their doors.

With construction booming, thieves have targeted local construction sites stealing toolboxes and equipment.
