HELL'S KITCHEN, Manhatan – A Manhattan mother and shelter worker was stunned Friday when PIX11 News surprised her with a check for $11,000.

“This is unreal. This is unreal,” Kema Park said. “I can’t believe this”

Parker works at Covenant House helping women and children in crisis, but she’s endured her own crisis recently.

“It’s been a tough couple of months,” she said through tears. “I just suffered a traumatic loss and so I wasn’t even in Christmas spirits”

With this surprise win, Parker said the holidays will be “beautiful” – and she plans on taking a trip with her daughter.
