WEST BABYLON, N.Y. — Dozens of people at a Suffolk County high school were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after an odor in the hallway made people sick.

Police received a call just before noon about a chemical leak in the hallway of West Babylon Senior High School on Great Neck East Road.

By 12:30 p.m., the school began dismissing students.

The district says if students are experiencing any symptoms to seek medical attention.

It’s unknown when the school will be cleared to reopen.
