NEW YORK — Actor George Takei is best known for his role as Mr. Sulu on "Star Trek," and to younger generations for his phenomenally successful social-media presence, but his latest role is much more personal—because it's based on a true story.

Takei visited the PIX11 News at 5 to talk about his starring role in the new Broadway musical "Allegiance," which is inspired by his own life events. He and his family were forced into a Japanese-American internment camp when he was a child.

He also told us why he called out Donald Trump on his comments about internment camps and his rhetoric around Muslims.
