Cops seek man who allegedly tried to rape 60-year-old woman in East Harlem

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan – Police are looking for a man who tried to rape a 60-year-old woman inside a Bronx building last Wednesday.

The culprit entered an apartment building on East 131st Street and approached the victim while she was inside a compactor room about 7:45 p.m., according to cops.

He proceeded to cover the victim's mouth, put her into a bear hug and bring her to the ground, police said. The man also attempted to remove the victim's pants, grab her groin and strangle her, the NYPD said.

The victim received treatment for cuts and bruises and is in stable condition.
