Driver suspected of DWI after crashing into cars, trees in Chinatown: NYPD

CHINATOWN, Manhattan – A driver was taken into custody under suspicion of DWI after losing control of his vehicle exiting the Manhattan Bridge, injuring himself and a passenger, according to police.

The incident happened near Canal and Bowery streets in Chinatown around 9 p.m.

A car leaving Manhattan Bridge from Brooklyn into Lower Manhattan crashed into a median and then hit trees, a street sign, parked cars and finally struck a NYPD Auxiliary police car near the 5th Precinct, cops said.

Both victims suffered minor injuries.

The driver has not been officially charged.

Police are investigating.
