UNITED KINGDOM — Chris Herbert lost his right leg while serving in Iraq more than eight years ago.

In light of recent terrorist attacks and an international rise of Islamophobia, he decided to address peoples’ assumption that he also hates Muslims.

“Yes. A Muslim man blew me up, and I lost my leg,” he wrote.

But, he writes that people who served alongside him and people who helped him recover were also Muslim — including his medic, surgeon, nurse, taxi driver and healthcare assistant.

“Blaming all Muslims for the actions of groups like Daeshe and the Taliban,” Herbert wrote, “is like blaming all Christians for the actions of the KKK or Westboro Baptist Church.”

In contrast, he also notes that several “White Brits” were cruel to him and his loved ones, including one incident where he claims someone pushed his wheelchair away from the elevator so he could use it first. Yet he also makes sure to note he doesn’t hate all white Brits either.

Chris advises in the post to “Get a grip of your lives, hug your family and get back to work.”

His post has garnered over 730 likes and 85,000 shares on Facebook.
