Family of 17-year-old killed in Queens hit-and-run plead for driver to surrender

JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens — The family of a 17-year-old killed in a hit-and-run in Queens is begging for the driver to surrender to police.

Jaremello Ovidio, 17, was killed on his way home from a friend's funeral Tuesday night around 11 p.m., at Junction and Northern boulevards in Jackson Heights.

"I miss him already so much," says Laura Valle grandmother of Ovidio.

Witnesses say the driver of a black Toyota Camry, kept going after striking the teen.

Ovidio was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.

"That was their only grandson, the only child," said neighbor Roger Torres. "He was so young so full of life."

The family hopes that the driver will do the right thing and come forward to police.

For now, police are canvassing the area for clues.
