VICTORVILLE, California – A passerby made a horrifying discovery that launched a police investigation Sunday – a newborn baby lying dead in the dirt near a busy California intersection.

Lisa Marie Amador was walking near Green Tree Boulevard and Seventh Street in Victorville, when the the person who spotted the child got her attention.

“I walked up to the baby and she wasn’t breathing,” Amador told KTLA.

Amador spotted the child’s body lying near a wall sign in front of several businesses.  She told reporters that the little girl’s skin color was “purple” and her body was coated in blood – the umbilical cord still attached.

The baby girl’s hair “was frozen . . . like she was sitting there and froze overnight,” Amador said.  “I started crying, I wanted to pick her up and hold her.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call Sheriff’s Detective Warrick at (909) 387–3589 or (760) 956-5001.
